What to Expect
We know that not all churches are the same and visiting a new church can be intimidating. We’ve provided a few answers to common questions, but we also invite you to connect with us personally to ask questions.
Restoration is a lively community of all ages that gathers to bring glory to Jesus. The backbone of our worship service is the liturgy of the Anglican church, which we strive to make accessible to the even the newest worshipper. In our service, we sing songs of worship, we pray, we read from the Bible, we hear the Gospel proclaimed in a sermon, and we receive Communion. We are joyful and reverent in our worship and encourage everyone to respond to the call to come and worship Jesus.
Come as early as you like to grab some coffee and mingle before the service. We begin the service at 10:00 AM and end a little before 11:30 AM. We also have a sign announcing a restaurant where folks can meet up for lunch!
Most worshippers dress casually and we encourage you to come in whatever you feel most comfortable wearing in a worship setting.
Children of any age are welcome in any part of the worship service. Nursery is available throughout the service for infants and toddlers. Preschool, elementary, and middle school aged children are included in the service and dismissed for an age-appropriate lesson during the sermon, rejoining the service for communion with the whole congregation.
Our pastor, Jed, oversees each worship service. Worship is led by our band and music director, and lay people lead prayers and read from the Bible. Jed often preaches the sermon, but other members of the preaching team take turns as well. One of the priests will celebrate the eucharist at the communion table.
While our ministers and worship team lead us, we believe that worship isn’t a consumer experience—everyone has a part in our common worship.
We choose hymns, contemporary choruses, and liturgical songs that are a right and true response to God’s work on our behalf. You can expect a lot of variety and hear the overflow of our hearts in song as we worship together.
Giving is part of the worshipping life of members of our church. No one should feel pressure to give during the service. Guests are not expected to make a financial contribution to Restoration.
If Restoration is your church home we encourage you to take a few minutes to set up recurrent online giving.
We are a liturgical church and liturgy means the “work of the people”, so you can expect an ongoing invitation to read responsively and sit and stand throughout the worship service. Prayers and readings are projected onto a screen so that everyone can participate together.
We also observe the practice of passing the peace between worshippers. At a significant moment in the service we greet others with a handshake and say, “The peace of the Lord be with you!” or simply “Peace!” It may seem unusual but it represents the peace of God’s forgiveness that we receive from him and share with others. Please participate as you feel comfortable.
We do celebrate communion weekly but no one is required to come forward and participate. We invite anyone who is baptized and professes faith in Jesus from any Christian denomination to come forward and receive the bread and the wine that is offered. Gluten free wafers are available for those with special dietary needs.
If you cannot or prefer not to receive the communion elements, we invite you to come forward and receive a prayer of blessing. You are also welcome to remain in your seat.
What denomination is Restoration?
Restoration is an Anglican Church. We are part of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) in the Diocese of Churches for the Sake of Others (C4SO). We believe that God is working through our church to make historic worship, theology, and the reading of Scripture accessible to those who are hungry for life with God in the company of his people.
